The Lebanese & French co-produced drama film Capernaum tells the short life story of 12-year old Zain. Zain who is not even registered and who says that the only thing he saw from his parents was love but was always neglected otherwise, continues to survive on the most poorest streets of Beirut, sometimes on his own and sometimes in the warm arms of a refugee woman, and finally sues his parents and seeks justice in a courtroom.
The Lebanese actress made a name for herself worldwide with the film CARAMEL that she directed in 2007. This film was premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in the Directors’ Fortnight section, later on followed with the premier of her next film WHERE DO WE GO NOW in the Un Certain Regard section of the Festival. She competed in the main section of the festival with her KEFERNAHUM film and won the Jury Prize.
